Rise Above Colorado, a recent expansion of the Colorado Meth Project, is requesting applications for our 2014-2015 Teen Advisory Council. The Council empowers young adults to be leaders and peer educators in equipping and inspiring other young people to lead healthy lives free from drug abuse. The Council aims to represent the diversity of the state with particular attention to geography, ethnicity, gender, and personal connection to drug abuse.
Members of the Teen Advisory Council will be selected through an application and interview process. Students, grades 8 through 11, are eligible and encouraged to apply. Once selected, members are required to attend a day-long orientation in Denver in June, the Colorado Youth Summit in Denver in October, and an additional in-person gathering in the winter/spring. All travel expenses will be reimbursed by Rise Above Colorado. Members are also required to participate in monthly conference calls and additional communication with the Teen Outreach Manager as needed. The council will design a group project for the State and local projects, including at least one lesson facilitation, for their individual schools or communities. All efforts will be supported by the Teen Outreach Manager to ensure each member gains meaningful skills and experience.
Each member will serve a minimum 1-year term, from June 2014 - June 2015. To learn more about the Council or to download the application, click HERE.
